William is a proud Richmond native. Growing up he spent his time both on the baseball field along with on the theatre stage. He attended St. Edwards-Epiphany School from K-8th grade and then graduated from Benedictine College Preparatory in 2007.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Theology from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC (where he also met his wonderful wife) in 2011. He then earned his masters and doctorate from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS), a School of Psychology at Divine Mercy University. IPS is the only psychology program in the country which actively trains its students to integrate the Catholic Faith with psychology.
Dr. McKenna is an active member of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA), serving as its co-chair on the Social Media Committee. He will be presenting at next year's CPA's national conference. He is also a member of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists (SCSS) and will be presenting in October at the Society's national conference.
Dr. McKenna has worked with a wide variety of patients: from the affluent to the working poor and with those suffering from homelessness. He has also worked with those suffering from schizophrenia to those who find themselves at a crossroads in their lives. All the while, he seeks to bring out the dignity in each patient and to help them succeed in therapy so that they can lead a flourishing life.
